Many of the apps use content from another page of your website and display it on the home page.  Some apps you can just upload content directly into them (e.g. alert, video, audio, showcase, text editor, etc.).  Other apps will use the files or content you've added to another part of your site.  Some examples are the events, services, blog, news, prayer, and gallery apps   These apps have settings for you to select the content you want to include.  For the events app, you can choose to display events over a certain number of days or a events that are assigned to a given category.  If there are no events entered into the calendar that match the criteria you set in the app, the app will not appear on your site.  That goes for other app as well.  If there are no blog entries to display, the blog app will not appear on the site.

There's also a third type of app that uses content from another website (e.g. facebook, twitter, youtube player, rss reader, vimeo player, etc.).  Those apps will not appear on your website if the connection to those accounts was not set correctly.

Here's a chart of the apps that shows where the app will pull the content from.  Notice that some apps have asterisks next to them because you can select files that have already been uploaded to another area or you can upload the files directly into the app.
